Yes, Kilkenny Co-Operative Livestock Mart uses Martbids for online bidding and viewing of sales.

1. Go to the Martbids website or download the Martbids App.
2. If you are a new user, click “NEW TO MARTBIDS? REGISTER HERE” to create a new account.
3. Fill in your personal information to create your account.
   Important – Please keep your password safe as Kilkenny Co-Operative Livestock Mart does not hold this information.
4. Once your account is created, you’ll be prompted to Sign In using the email address and password you registered with.
5. The Martbids home screen will appear. Select “KILKENNY”.
6. Once in “KILKENNY”, the catalogue of the sale will appear. Click the large green “ONLINE BIDDING” button at the top of the screen.
7. The ring screen will then appear. Rings can be changed via a dropdown on the left side. If you only wish to view the sale and not buy, no further action is required.
8. If you wish to buy, under “SALE OPTIONS,” select “REQUEST BID PERMISSION.”
9. Enter your herd number when prompted, then click “SUBMIT” and “CLOSE.”
10. “BID PERMISSION PENDING” will appear under “SALE OPTIONS.”
11. Contact the mart office on +353 56 7721407 to get approved bid permission. If you do not contact the mart directly, permission will not be granted.
12. Once approval is confirmed, go back to the ring screen and click the green “REFRESH” button in the top right corner.
13. The ring screen will refresh and a padlock icon will appear under “SALE OPTIONS.”
14. To bid, tap the padlock — it will open and you will be prompted to place bids.
    Important: If you do not intend to bid, please keep the padlock closed.

IN ADVANCE OF THE SALE:

Please ring the office on +353 56 7721407 and they will set you up on the system.

If you wish to use Martbids, please follow the instructions to create an account before you call.

ON THE DAY OF THE SALE:

Please present yourself at the livestock office before entering ringside. The office is in the main building, before the rings. You will be given a bid number and asked to use this if you wish to buy in the ring.

AFTER SALE:

Once you have bought the animals and there are no pending subjects (sellers have 15 minutes to confirm price of stock), please return to the office.

Payment is required on the day of sale. Once payment is received, you will receive a receipt and pass-out documentation.

Buyers must collect animals at the back of the premises in the loading bays. A member of staff will advise you on further steps and check the pass-out documentation.

Depending on the type of sale, you may receive a text message with information on time to arrive on the day of sale. The office will advise you when taking entry.

MORNING OF THE SALE:

Please ensure you arrive for the requested time. When you arrive, please drive around to the back of the premises and you will be met by a member of staff who will explain next steps. Alternatively, please enter the number hut where you will be given instructions.

TIME OF SELLING:

Sellers will be advised of the approximate time their lots will be sold beforehand. Sellers can choose to be present or view the sale online via Martbids.

If the seller is not present, their livestock will be sold subject to the owner’s consent. At the fall of the hammer, all sellers will receive a text confirming the sale price of their animals.

Sellers have 15 minutes to contact the mart if they do not wish their animals to be sold. If no contact has been received within that time, consent is deemed to have been given and the stock will be sold.

No, we have a strict policy that all animals must have two tags to be accepted into Kilkenny Co-Operative Livestock Mart.

If you are aware of any issue with an animal, please announce it and let staff know before the sale.

There are bays designated for loading and unloading livestock. However, please do not leave vehicles parked in these areas for extended periods of time.

Yes, the mart holds pedigree bull sales, special sheep and ram sales, suckler sales, herd dispersal sales and restricted herd sales.

Stock from restricted herds are only sold within special online restricted herd sales.

No animals will enter the mart, videos of stock will be used on the day of the sale.

• Stock must be TB tested within the last 60 days.
• Animals under 12 weeks cannot be sold.
• Cows can be sold in restricted sales.
